Student Visa application Fee has been waved from August 5

The Department of Home Affairs has waved the application fee of International student visa application. It starts form midnight today.

International students will be able to lodge a further student visa application free-of-cost if they are unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19 has said by Immigration Minister Alan Tudge.

The fee waiver will be available to only those students who held a visa on or after 1 February 2020 from Wednesday.

Those student who have already applied the student visa refund will not be given to those student.

New student visa application will be eligible for fee waver and their family member are also eligible for the fee waver.


Students must complete this form and attach Form 1545 COVID-19 Impacted Student (PDF – 228 KB) from their education provider with a valid visa application.

Changes will apply to current and new students on Graduate Temporary visa 485.

The online study undertaken by current and new student visa holders who are eligible for 485 visa.

The student who are offshore and studying online will be able to apply for and be granted a Temporary Graduate visa outside Australia.
